Annual Westfield Booster All-Sports Award Banquet
Every year the Westfield Booster Association hosts the All-Sports Award Banquet. This special event is held annually to celebrate and recognize the athletic accomplishments of all student athletes at Westfield High School, with special honor given to senior athletes. The event includes individual senior plaque presentations, picture plaque presentations to varsity State Championship teams, the All-Sports slide show, and the Westfield School Boosters Scholarship Awards. This year will be the 52nd anniversary of this Westfield Boosters tradition.
The Boosters invite all Westfield High School athletes and their families to attend. Senior athletes attend to celebrate their own WHS athletic accomplishments and those of their classmates and teammates. Underclassman, attend to honor their senior teammates, State Championship teams and scholarship winners. Parents attend to see their daughters, sons, and their friends be recognized for their athletic accomplishments.
The highlight of the event is the Westfield School Boosters Scholarship Awards. The program that began in 1968 and had one recipient has been extended to 33 scholarships totaling over $50,000. The student athlete scholarship awards are presented in honor of, and in memory of, coaches, athletes, and Boosters and on behalf of local sports organizations. The selection criteria consist of: athletic achievement, scholastic performance, and leadership qualities, with achievement given the most emphasis. Student athletes can pick up applications in the Westfield High School Athletic Office.
During the event, senior athletes are awarded a senior plaque to commemorate their athletic career. All varsity members of state champion teams are awarded special picture plaques to celebrate winning season.
The All-Sports slide show is a highlight for our senior athletes. A professional photographer attends at least one game/match/meet of every sport to capture our senior athletes in action. Two slide shows are created; the main show includes every senior in action at least once and is shown during the dinner. The second show which runs before the main event main event consists of 45 to 60 minutes of footage of athletes taking part in their sports. Due to its popularity, this professionally produced slide show is offered for sale as a DVD.
Invitations to the All-Sports Award Banquet will be sent to senior athletes in early April, and event registration will open shortly afterwards.
